A loan of $375 helped to buy sacks of natural fertilizer.

Lucia's story

Lucia, 48, is a simple woman who has lived with her husband, Silverio, for the past 14 years in their own house in the village of Aymará. They had 8 children, but 2 died and that left them with 6 to care for. She feels proud to have help from her children after they come home from school. They spend their free time on farm work: “with their help, I can advance and get better money”, she comments happily.

Her main crops are potatoes, olluco (a Peruvian tuber), wheat and oca (another type of indigeneous tuber). She tells us that she has 5 years experience in agriculture and thanks to her effort, it has provided her with a small house that she wishes to improve, and also to set up a stable for the animals.

She says that she has 40 sheep, pigs and burros. She cares for and fattens them to later sell them to the butcher that come to her house. The work is going well and she thanks God for the family that he gave her. She belongs to the group “Romero” and this is her first loan with MFP. She is hoping that with their help, she can go ahead with her plans. She promises to make all the payments on time. She also is glad to be part of the association because all of the members are responsible and united. Lucia will use the requested money to buy natural fertilizer to spread among her next potato crop.
