A loan of $775 helped to purchase more paper for resale.

Faridah's story

Faridah is 32 years old and lives in the town of Kibuli in the Kampala South region of Uganda. She is married and has four children, three of whom are currently in school. For the past ten years, Faridah has been working hard to manage her stationery shop, which sells paper.

To help expand her business, Faridah has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more paper for resale, and will help Faridah to generate greater profits and pay school fees for her children. Faridah hopes that in the future she will be able to increase capital.

Faridah is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Faridah who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
