A loan of $675 helped to buy blouses, shirts, trousers, and children’s clothing.

Narcisa De Jesús's story

Sra. Narcisa is a member of the Communal Bank “Sentimientos” (Feelings). She lives in the neighborhood of Miraflores in the city of Cuenca, which is surrounded by four rivers. It is the third largest city in Ecuador. The people have maintained the culture and traditions of their ancestors. Cuenca is a city full of friendly people who possess very warm hearts.

Sra. Narcisa is 45 years old and a single mother with six children (ages 25, 23, 20, 18, 16, and 12). Her oldest daughter is married and lives independently. Two of her children work in order to cover their personal expenses. Her three youngest children attend a high school in the city. They do not own a home, so they live in a rental property.

Doña Narcisa has been selling all types of clothing for 20 years. She only works three days a week and does not have a set schedule. On the other days, she takes care of her children and her home.

This is her second loan with the Communal Bank. She will invest the money in the purchase of blouses, shirts, trousers, and children’s clothing so that she can restock with more merchandise. Her goal is to have a shop where she can sell fast food.
