A loan of $975 helped to purchase more bundles of clothes for resale.

Joseph's story

Joseph is 40 years old and lives in the town of Kinubi in Uganda. He is married and has six children with three of them currently in school. For the past three years, Joseph has been working hard to manage his retail business, which sells different types of clothing. To help expand his business, Joseph has requested a loan of 2,500,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more bundles of clothes for resale, and it will help Joseph to generate greater profits and improve his family's well being. Joseph hopes that in the future he will be able to expand his business into a wholesale business. Joseph is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Joseph who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
