A loan of $650 helped a member to source farming inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer, at low prices for the 2012 planting season.

Mabadiliko Group's story

Rexnald is the facilitator of the Mabadiliko group. Rexnald and his group joined One Acre Fund in the year 2011 and will re-enroll in the 2012 program.

Rexnald takes care of six children at home. He joined One Acre Fund to grow enough to feed his family and to have additional maize profit to educate his children. In the recent 2011 season, Rexnald had an excellent maize yield harvesting eight bags on ½ acre of land. Before joining One Acre Fund, Rexnald was only able to harvest seven bags of maize on ½ acre of land.

With this loan, One Acre Fund will purchase fertilizer, seeds, and other important inputs to distribute to Rexnald and his group during Kenya’s next planting season in February 2012. The distribution of farming inputs is part of One Acre Fund’s integrated agriculture package, which includes training, reliable input supply (such as fertilizer and seeds), credit and insurance.

With income from his maize sales, Rexnald will pay school fees for his children, loans and bills.

In 2012, the members of Mabadiliko group will each plant maize plots between ½ and 1 acre of land.

Rexnald and his group members are shown in the photograph.
