A loan of $1,050 helped to purchase motorcycle parts.

Derlis's story

Derlis is 27 years old, married for six years to Ms. Laura, 24, and has a four-year-old daughter. Derlis earns a living selling motorcycle spare parts and servicing bikes, which he has done for six years. He tells us he began to work as a motorcycle mechanic at the age of 12. First he was an assistant and then as time went by he became a professional. He says he was working a lot and earning very little money, and so he left his job and decided to open up his own mechanic's shop with some savings. He was able to buy the essential tools and, as time went by, he improved all the tools and also began carrying spare parts for the bikes.

Owing to the quality of service he provides, a motorcycle dealership designated him as their official mechanic so that the bikes the company represents can go to his shop for routine maintenance and repairs.

He is seeking the foundation's help for the purchase of motorcycle parts in general with which to stock up.
