A loan of $1,050 helped to buy ten packets of yarn.

Eduarda's story

Eduarda is a member of the 'Santa Barbara' community bank which is located in Yunguyo district and province, in Puno department. She is 35 years old, married, and has two children. She has an elementary school level of education.

Eduarda has been working with Movimiento Manuela Ramos for five years. Her first loan was for 300 soles and she invested that money in her business selling animals such as sheep, pigs and hens. In parallel with this work, she also sells woven cloths.

Eduarda will use this new loan for 2,800 soles to buy ten packets of yarn for making cloths. She tells us that she buys the cones of yarn for 33 and 22 soles. She sells her cloths in the towns of Juliaca and Arequipa and works alongside her husband.

Eduarda's dream is to buy more looms and a plot of land. What she most likes about her community bank are the punctuality, the payments, the savings and the training sessions which are run by the loan officers.
