Marcial's story

Marcial is a member of the communal bank "Santa Barbara" in the village of Chinumani, district and province of Yunguyo in the department of Puno. He is 46, a widower and has seven children. He was unable to finish elementary school.

He has been working with the Manuela Ramos Movement for six months. His first loan was for 500 PEN which he invested in his grocery business. He also sells animals but this is not his main business.

With the new loan in the amount of 1,000 PEN, he will buy rice, sugar, flour, lard, yeast, and eggs. He sells his merchandise on Mondays in the town of Juliaca and he works with his daughter.

He wants to have more capital and improve his business. What he enjoys most about the communal bank are the easy loan terms, punctuality and responsibility.
