Hussein is a 36-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife and four children, who are still attending school. He provides the only source of income for the family. He has owned a poultry shop since 2003 and he’s well known by his generosity and cleanliness. Today, Hussein is asking to borrow $800 from Kiva's partner Ameen s.a.l to buy new equipment, such as a grilling machine and other baking tools. These purchases will help him increase his business productivity and his sales, also increasing his income. In the future, he looks forward to opening his own restaurant.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
