A loan of $1,175 helped to buy sugar and soap to sell.

Scovia's story

Scovia is 28 years old and lives in the town of Kasese in the Fort portal region of Uganda. She is married and has two children who are both currently in school. For the past 2 years, Scovia has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells sugar and soap.

To help expand her business, Scovia has requested a loan of 3,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy sugar and soap to sell, and will help Scovia to generate greater profits and buy food to feed her family. Scovia hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business.

Scovia is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Scovia who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
