A loan of $550 helped to buy products of primary necessity to sell in her grocery store.

María Teresa's story

Maria is a member of the “Paty's FLC” communal bank. She lives in Tarqui parish in Cuenca. It has a cold climate and its great plains make an ideal place to raise cattle and other animals. Its people possess a warm and friendly heart; they maintain the culture and traditions of their villages.

Maria is 43 years old, married, and their union has conceived 6 children, aged 23, 20, 17, 15, 3 and 1. Their first 2 children work and cover their own expenses, while 2 of their children study in a local school. Her husband works in cattle raising. They own the house they live in.

Maria takes care of household matters and attends to her store. She has done this for some 9 years, without a fixed schedule, from Sunday to Sunday. In addition, she raised pigs, chickens, and guinea pigs.

This loan will start Maria on her 2nd loan cycle with her communal bank. She will invest it in purchasing products of primary necessity to restock her store.

Her goal is to expand the store.
