A loan of $375 helped to buy 25 kilos of alfalfa seed.

Luz's story

48-year-old Luz is an outstanding woman who lives with Ronald, her husband of 18 years. The couple have three children: Luz, Jorge and Edwin, who they care for in their own home, which is located in the small village of San Pedro de Saño. During all her years of hard work, Luz has been able to obtain many things, including a drugstore for her village where she sells medicines and provides an injection and first aid service. Her eldest daughter helps her in this business. However, Luz' main business is farming. She started working the land when she was very young. Her main crops are potatoes and alfalfa which she feeds to her cows. She has an average of 6 cows and two bulls which she uses for plowing the soil. She tells us that she makes cheese for her own consumption and also drinks the milk that her cows produce. Although her children are still in school, she continues to save up as she would like to improve her drugstore: "I will manage this because I have the support of my husband who works as a builder" she says.

Luz is a member of the "San Pedro" community bank and this is her eighteenth loan from MFP. She hopes to receive a small loan so that she can achieve her goals. For her part, she pledges to make her repayments on time. She enjoys being a member of her community bank because all the members are responsible people and very supportive. With your support, Luz will invest the money she has requested in buying 25 kilos of alfalfa seed for her upcoming sowing season.
