Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Victor's story

Víctor, 41, is a hardworking man. He married Hilda, his wife, ten years ago. They have a son, Joel, who they care for in their own house located in Pantipata hamlet. He is a farmer. His main crops are peas, potatoes and corn. He managed in this time to acquire his own farmland where he works alongside his wife. He also raises bulls that he fattens up to then sell at better prices. He has four head of cattle and wants later on to have more. “I earn good profits raising these animals,” he comments “that’s why I want to spend more time raising animals.” He is currently patiently waiting for the rainy season to plant again.

He belongs to the “Tancar Puquio” communal bank and this is his fifth MFP loan. He’s happy because he’ll have financial support so he feels surer that he’ll make progress with his work. He commits to make his installment payments and he is pleased to be a member of his association because all the members are responsible, very mutually supportive people. If Víctor were to receive your support, he’ll use the requested money to buy four or five bulls for his business.
