Betty's story

Betty lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married with five children, two of whom go to school. She takes care of two additional family members, a brother and sister. She is a retail mushroom farmer. Betty works seven days a week. She has been in this business for the last 3 years. She has requested a loan of 900000 from MCDT SACCO to buy more millet and mother spawn. Betty generates additional income by selling charcoal stoves and renting rooms. Her major business challenges are transportation and seasonality. Her goals and aspirations are to build more rental houses and to become a big mushroom farmer. She lives in her own house and her family has access to electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expenses are school fees and food.
