A loan of $875 helped to buy an electrical generator for his mill to grind corn.

Santos Abel's story

Santos is 67 years old, and he is in a common-law-marriage. He lives with his wife and three children (two girls and a boy) in the urban area of the Yoro municipality. Santos’s business is grinding corn through a semi-technical mill. As an additional business activity to generate income his wife makes tortillas. The children help her in their free time. Two of the children go to school. He says that he started this business four years ago, and he believes that it has significantly improved his income. It has allowed him to get his own vehicle. He has currently requested his first loan. He will use the loan to buy an electrical generator so that the mill will function without interruption. He says that the generator that he will buy will help him improve a lot in his business. There are a lot of electrical difficulties in the area where he lives. The electrical service is constantly suspended. That causes him to suspend his operations. Santos is very motivated in his business because there is the demand for milling services. He hopes to continue getting good income to support his children’s university education and to improve the quality of life for his whole family.
