Victor Manuel

A loan of $550 helped to grow corn and to the prepare and maintain the land.

Victor Manuel's story

Victor is 41 years old and married. He lives with his wife and three children; age 5, 13, and 17, in the San Francisco de Yojoa village. The children attend school.

Victor and his wife help each other. For 20 years they have devoted themselves to growing corn, beans, and cacao. They sell the grain at each harvest. They work at this business activity all day, every day. He has been doing this since he was a young boy because his parents are farmers. They have an area of cultivated land that is two “manzanas” (a land measurement unit equivalent to 7000 square meters or 1.728 acres). This production is sold to grain buyers who come to his house to purchase the grains. When there is abundance in the area he takes it to the market to sell.

The loan that he requested is to invest in growing corn and for the preparation and maintenance of the land. He makes his efforts in order to support a better standard of living and for his children to continue their education.
