A loan of $3,075 helped a member increase her working capital to buy more chickens for resale, so she can realize large profits and increase her savings.

Kenguruka Group's story

Devote is a 34-year-old merchant from the town of Rutonde in the country's central Gitega Province. She has been selling chickens for 10 years, a job that requires her to make regular trips to the capital Bujumbura, in order to sell them. She was a banana vendor before she started this activity.

She studied up to sixth grade. She is married to Alphonse and they are parents of a 10-year-old currently in fourth grade.

The Kiva loan of 120,000 Burundian francs allows her to increase her capital to buy many more chickens for resale, so she can realize large profits and increase her savings.

She is a member of the "Kenguruka" community group.
