Amd 28 Mandiri Group
In this Group: Fatmawati, Mulyani, Lulu , Endang, Hamida
Fatmawati is 49 years old and married with three children. She is pictured above standing in the middle of the group. One of her children is studying at university while the other two are in high school and junior high school. She has been selling clothing and electronic equipment on credit for 26 years around her neighborhood. The business allows her to help her husband by supplementing his income as a caterer and also helps pay school fees for the children. She hopes that all of her children can succeed in school and attend through university. She is now requesting her first loan with VisionFund Indonesia to buy more clothing to resell to customers and help pay school fees for her children.

She enjoys having this business because she does not have to sit at home all day and can be out meeting people and sharing stories with them. Main challenges she faces with her business are when people cannot pay her and the increased competition. If she ever has enough savings, she'd like to open her own store someday to sell the clothing and electronics from.

The other group members will use their loans to help their businesses which include selling cakes, selling ice, and selling cosmetics.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
