Amale is a 51-year-old Lebanese married woman. She lives with her husband and three school-aged children. She has owned a bakery since 2009 and produces tasty pastries. She has worked for 21 years. Despite her older age and since her income is limited, her husband who works outside the country, helps her with the household expenses especially with the heavy educational fees. With her requested loan of $2,000 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l., she will be able to increase her inventory of food products such as flour, sugar and other ingredients. She has high hopes for the future of her business.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
