Afiwa's story

Afiwa is a 50-year-old woman. She is a widow and the mother of two children who do not attend school. Her eldest is 15 years old and her youngest is 10.

Afiwa has been working as a retailer since 2004. She buys and sells clay pots, brooms and top-up cards from her home. She stocks up at the wholesalers' in Lomé and works alone.

Afiwa has requested her third loan from WAGES in order to buy clay pots, hair extensions and top-up cards for resale. She plans to diversify her merchandise with the extra profits she makes from her business.

Over the coming years, Afiwa would like to enlarge her customer base. She says that she plans to use her profits to meet her family's food needs.
