Ofelia's story

Ofelia is 32 years old and married to Miguel who is a farmer; they have four children: Arturo, Amairani, Luis and José Àngel. Three of them are in school, two in first and second year of secondary school and the third is in fifth grade of elementary school while the youngest is about to turn three years of age. Ofelia has bee working selling Mexican fast food snacks for over four years. She says that she decided to invest in this activity because she wants to help her husband with household expenses because he works very hard in the fields and does not earn enough to have good economic solvency and also to continue helping with her children’s schooling so that they can have good professional careers. The loan she received will be used to buy ingredients like: tomatoes, chilies, onions, potatoes, oil, salt, cheese, cream, meat, chickens and firewood to continue with her business. One of Doña Ofe’s (as she’s known in her community) goals is to make the business grow very much because she’s planning to build a locale later on to install her eatery there. She will buy tables and chairs and increase production because her income will improve and increase that way. She thanks Fundación Realidad and Kiva for all the support and trust they’ve given her because it will be very beneficial for her because now she’ll be able to continue investing in her business and supporting her family.
