Balqees' Group
In this Group: Balqees, Shahnaz, Naseem, Nabeela, Basheeran
I am Balqees J., and I belong to the Christian community of Chichawatni, a small town in Pakistan. I am married and a mother of two sons. My elder son studies in grade two and my younger son is in kindergarten. My husband operates a betel nut shop in a nearby market. He needs to buy a few items for his shop and does not possess enough money to purchase them. Kindly give us a loan for a twelve-month period. I am borrowing in a group of few other women: Shahnaz G. wants to expand her pharmacy. Naseem S.’s husband wants to start a bicycle rental store. Nabeela B. operates a grocery store within her house. Basheeran B. is also borrowing for her family’s business.

All of us reside very close together and are mutually responsible for this loan. If one does not repay, the others will pay for her.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
