A loan of $600 helped to buy supplies for her farming business.

Diana Alexandra's story

Diana Alexandra, 19, is single. She has no children and lives with her parents in Chillanes, a town in Bolivar province.
The Vuelve la Esperanza community bank has 13 members. It is located in the parish of San Jose del Tambo, some 60 minutes from our office.
Diana Alexandra has a farming business. She grows maize, soybeans, cacao and platanos. She buys and sells the supplies she needs, every weekend, at San Jose del Tambo.
Diana Alexandra will use this loan to buy seed, fertilizers, organic manure, weed killer and other supplies.
The loan will help her to increase her output and, in turn, her income.
Diana Alexandra's long-term goal is to have a farm and live-stock business of her own.
The main challenges she faces are stiff competition from other farmers and the roads to market.
In her free time, Diana Alexandra likes to take walks and go to local carnivals.
