Sop Serigne Bara Group's story

The solidarity group Sop Serigne Bara was created on August 28, 2009. It consists of fifteen women from the same neighborhood who live in perfect harmony. Their main activity is small trade.

The leader of the group is Mrs. Maguette, seen standing on the right in the photo with her hand raised, and wearing a green and orange dress with a green scarf. She is 49 years old and married with five children. She also takes care of four orphans.

Mrs. Maguette sells seasonal fruit and has over twelve years of experience in this activity. She buys her stock at the market for resale on site where she has a booth.

She will use her loan to stock up on large quantities of fruit in order to increase her sales and revenue.

The profits will be used to help her husband to support the family and provide for the children’s clothing needs.
