A loan of $650 helped to purchase construction materials (cement, stone, sand, beams, etc.) to continue construction on his house.

Rubens's story

Rubens was born in the city of Xai-Xai, in the province of Gaza in southern Mozambique. He is married and the father of four children who are still in school. He attended school through the seventh grade but had to drop out because of his parents' financial difficulties. He lives in his own home with his family and also supports three nephews, sending money to help with their expenses. He has been a security guard at a private house for more than three years, and is also retired from CFM (Mozambique Railways). He earns a total of 5,000 meticals a month, which he uses to pay for household expenses and save some in his bank account. He's never had a loan from other banks. He heard about Hluvuku through a friend who is also a client of the institution. This is his third loan with Hluvuku, in the amount of 17,000 meticals, which he will use to purchase construction materials (cement, stone, sand, beams, etc.) to continue construction on his house. His previous loans, in the amounts of 12,000 and 18,000 meticals, were also used for his home. He is committed to paying off this loan without any problems and in the future intends to buy electric pumps to increase productivity on his farm, for which he will request further loans from Hluvuku.
