A loan of $1,150 helped a member to purchase livestock.

Umut's Group's story

Umut is the leader of this group. She is 55 and married to a retiree. Together with her husband she has raised two sons and two daughters. All the children are married and live with their families. Umut works as a cleaner in the local school. Three years ago with an initial investment of 6000 Kyrgyzstan soms (KGS), Umur, with the help of her husband, started to breed livestock. By reselling livestock after fattening, the family earns an additional 1000 KGS per month. With money received from the loan, Umut wants to purchase more livestock for breeding, fattening, and further reselling. In the future she wishes to purchase a piece of land to start building a house for her sons.
