A loan of $1,000 helped to buy seeds and agricultural inputs such as urea, herbicides fertilizers, and weed killer.

Jose Jorge's story

Jose Jorge is 31 years old, single, with no children, and lives with his mother in Chillanes canton, Bolivar province.

The “Monte de los Olivos” (Mount of Olives) communal bank is located in San Jose del Tambo parish, some 60 minutes from our office, and is composed of 14 members, male and female. Its members are dedicated to agricultural work on the short cycle. They sow corn, oranges and cacao.

Jose too is dedicated to agriculture. He plants corn, oranges, and cacao, and does his buying and selling in Chillanes canton. He is requesting a loan to buy seeds and agricultural inputs such as urea, herbicides, fertilizers, and weed killer to maintain his plantings in good condition. The loan will be a great help because buying these inputs and seeds without problems will improve the quality of the harvest.

Challenges very frequently occur, including competition and crop plagues. Jose's dream is to continue working to be able to acquire another loan for a larger sum to obtain more land.

In his free time, Jose likes to practice sports, especially soccer.
