Esther Maria's story

Esther is 57 years old and has 2 children, 29 and 31 years old. Her business bears her name and was born once she had taken a dressmaking course; she only used to sew for herself and her children but gradually when the economic situation required it, she decided to work individually tailoring clothes for friends and neighbours who made up her first domestic customer base. This gradually increased with referrals from her very own customers, giving her an income which helped her take care of her children. Currently both children are professionals in the healthcare sectors of nursing and radiology and she is very happy and proud of this fact of fulfilling the dream of seeing them turned into successful people in the service of society. Currently she is applying for her first Kiva loan, the 13th funding she has with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, an organisation with which she has developed the technical infrastructure of her business and improved her economic standing. With her Kiva loan she will buy raw materials and consumables such as fabric.,sliders, ornaments, as she is getting ready for the first communions of many children whose mothers prefer that Esther make their children's dresses.
