A loan of $4,100 helped a member to increase her food stock, buy a refrigerator, and improve the location where her goods are sold.


Tegemeo Group's story

Zuwena, who is in her early 30s, is married with four children. Three of her children go to school and one is a baby. She has been a food vendor since 2007. She works from 5:30 am to 6:00 pm daily and is able to make a fair monthly profit.

This will be her 1st loan from Tujijenge Tanzania, which she wants to use to increase her food stock, buy a refrigerator, and improve the location where she sells her goods (e.g. put in floor tiles). Her dream is to one day be able to build her own house.

She will share this loan with her loan group "Tegemeo", which has a total of 17 members who will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.
