A loan of $775 helped to buy clothing for girls and women for resale.

Angélica María's story

In the canton of Rocafuerte (Portoviejo) the members of the communal bank Mujeres Organizadas meet twice a month. This place is known for its delicious sweets that the local people make and they are known throughout the country.

Here we meet Angelica who is 39 years old, married and she has a 15-year-old daughter from this relationship who is a school student. Her husband works in a pharmacy.

In addition to working at home and taking care of her daughter she also sells from door to door all types of clothing and works Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 8:30AM until 4:00PM, although if some customer wants to buy something from her at home it’s never a problem. She buys her products from a distributor in the city of Chone and collects cash or collects weekly payments. She has been doing this for more than 10 years and her best sellers are clothing for girls and women.

She will use this loan to buy clothes for girls and women. She has been a member of the communal bank for seven years and she likes the help she has received from the institution.

Her dream is to have a boutique.
