Mugunza A(Iii) Group's story

The leader of this small group is Hamida H.. She operates a retail shop and is requesting a loan to increase her stock. Hamida is 30 years old and is married. Her husband is a businessman. She has 3 children ranging in age from 6 to 12 years and her children go to school. Each week, Hamida makes approximately UGX 70000 (US$41.00) in profits and, with the extra profits from her loan, she hopes to be able to buy a new refrigerator for her shop. Hamida has taken a loan from BRAC Uganda before in the amount of UGX 300000(US$175.00) to add more stock in the shop and the loan was paid back on time.

Hamida is joined in her small group by Zubeda D. and Aisha N.. Zubeda D. sells used clothes and wants to expand the business. Aisha N. currently operates a retail shop and wants a loan to add stock in the shop.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
