A loan of $750 helped to construct more rooms in his bar.

Robert's story

Robert is 33 years old and lives in the town of Bungokho in the Mbale region of Uganda. For the past two years, Robert has been working hard to manage his bar and lodge, which sells drinks and sodas to local customers.

To help expand his business, Robert has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to construct more rooms in his bar, and will help Robert to generate greater profits and improve his family's welfare. Robert hopes that in the future he will be able to develop even more rooms on the lodge side of his bar.

Robert is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Robert who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
