A loan of $750 helped to buy a cow and two bags of pea seeds.

Elba's story

Elba is 40 years old. She is a serious woman with aspirations who lives together with Joel, her husband of 13 years. The couple have a daughter, Melina, who they care for in their own home which is located in the small village of Usibamba. She is engaged in a number of activities. Very early in the mornings, she opens the doors of her home where she set up a grocery store some time ago. She sells basic household products and, as a country woman, she also raises livestock. She has four cows and she sells the milk that they produce for a good price as it is very nutritious and has good texture. She also grows crops on her farmland: oats, beans, peas and potatoes. She tells us that she started working independently 15 years ago as she had to help her family. She does not rest. She would like to increase her profits by purchasing pigs which would also make her money. She plans to fatten them and sell them to local butcher's.

Elba is a member of the 'Usibamba' community bank and this is her second loan from MFP. She hopes to receive your support so that she can continue achieving her goals. She pledges to be punctual in making her loan repayments as she was with her previous loan. With your support, Elba will invest the money she has requested in buying a cow to increase the size of her herd. She will also buy two bags of pea seeds for her next sowing season.
