Silvia Jeannette's story

Ms. Silvia is 26 years old and the single mother of a son.

She has a fruit plantation where she grows jocotes (plum), oranges, avocados, zapotes (sapote plum) and coffee. She has been in business for six years and learned the trade from her mother grew and sold fruit.

Silvia must walk a kilometer to catch the bus to go buy supplies. For the return trip she has to pay $3.00 to take a motortaxi and transport the products home.

The loan will be used to buy fertilizer and fungicides for better fruit production and also to pay for cleaning and fertilizing worker costs. In this manner she will be able to increase her income and improve her family's quality of life. In the future Silvia plans to diversify the variety of her fruit trees for better production and increased income.
