A loan of $1,000 helped to pay her semester's tuition and to buy dental equipment.

Gema Andrea's story

In the city of Portoviejo, capital of Manabí, known for many years as the City of the Royal Tamarinds, the members of the Alfa communal bank meet every fifteen days. We met Gema, 19, here. She’s single and lives with her parents. She is in second semester of dentistry at a university in Portoviejo.

She is a very studious young woman who is concerned about her future. She requested the loan to pay for her higher education. She has to pay tuition for the university semester that is about to start. Thanks to the loans she’s progressing in her career and hopes to continue that way until she graduates. She counts on Fundación Espoir’s support to reach her dreams.

She is going to use the loan to pay tuition for the university semester and to buy certain dental equipment needed for better learning. She’s been in the communal bank for three cycles and likes it because of the help they are giving her. Her dreams are to complete her studies and to become a great professional.
