A loan of $75 helped to buy a bag of gelatin, lollipops, sweets, and cookies.

Lucia's story

Lucia is a member of the Las Amigas communal bank in the district, province, and department of Puno. She is 19 years old, lives with her partner, and has one child. She studied up to high school.

She has worked with the Manuela Ramos movement for six months. Her first loan was for the sum of 100 PEN, money she invested in her business selling sweets, gelatin, and cookies.

With this new loan of 200 PEN, she will buy a bag of gelatin, lollipops, sweets, and a box of chocolate cookies. She sells on Saturdays in the markets of Puno and her husband works in a carpenter's shop.

Lucia wants to have a commercial grocery store that would allow her to generate more profit.

What she likes about her communal bank are the companionship and the talks about business.
