A loan of $775 helped to buy cosmetics, jewelry, etc. for her retail business.

Cinthya Isabel's story

The Anibal San Andres community bank meets twice a month in Montecristi (Portoviejo), a canton famous for the straw hats that come from there.

We met Sra. Cinthia at the community bank. She is 24-years old and married with a three-year old son. Her husband works as a laborer. Cinthia has good skills: she is a wonderful homemaker and has a teaching degree.

She works as a teacher in a local school to help her husband with the family's expenses. She also has her own business, selling Avon and Eskia products (beauty products, perfumes and other merchandise for women). She goes door to door to sell her merchandise but most of her sales come from her workplace. She works every day, mornings at the school and afternoons in different parts of the city where she peddles her merchandise. She sells on credit and collects from her customers every two weeks. She has operated the business for 5 years. Most of her sales are perfumes and cosmetics.

Cinthia will use this loan to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics and jewelry. She has been a member of the community bank for 5 years and likes it because the loans she's received have helped her a lot.

Her goal is to get a higher degree so that she can work as a "nombramiento" in a public school.
