A loan of $125 helped to buy sugar, flavoring and ice cream cones.

Andrea's story

Andrea is a member of Santa Barbara Communal Bank in the town of Chinumani, located within the District and Province of Yunguyo, and the Department of Puno. She is 58 years old, married, and has three children who are now independent.

Together with her husband she works selling animals, as well as regional products such as potatoes, chuño (freeze-dried potato), barley, beans and oca (an Andean tuber). She tells us that she is also engaged in selling ice cream in the towns of Yunguyo and Desaguadero. She has been working with Movimiento Manuela Ramos for the past two years.

With this new loan of 300 PEN (Peruvian Nuevos Soles) she will buy sugar, flavoring and cones to sell ice cream. She works alone in this business and her husband tends to the animals.

Andrea would like to continue with her business. At her communal bank, she likes the credit facilities and her savings.
