A loan of $1,000 helped to buy a printer and a laptop computer.

Maria Edudocia's story

Profe Mari, as her students affectionately call her, is a 61-year-old, single mother; she has four children who are all now independent. She’s a Spanish teacher. She imparts classes to elementary and secondary school youngsters and also teaches Spanish to foreigners who wish to speak the Spanish language. She is originally from Jinotega Department but lives in the city of Estelí. When she retired she decided to give private Spanish classes. She set up a small school where she teaches Spanish.

According to her, teaching is a vocation that springs spontaneously from her; she likes it and expects to continue teaching for as long as her bones can bear it for thanks to it she managed to provide her children with an education.

She needs the loan to buy a printer and a laptop computer because technology keeps moving forward and she does not want to be left behind and it’s a tool that will help her do her work and which is of much use and much needed in her small school. She wants to continue at the helm of her school and to make improvements to it to keep it functioning in optimal condition.
