A loan of $2,525 helped a member to buy tassels and fabric for making blankets.

21 De Junio Group's story

The '21 de Junio' community bank are about to start their eleventh loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Germán Busch regional office. The group has nine members and is run by a board of directors which is led by Dominga. The businesses that the members of the bank are engaged in are varied and include knotting blankets, selling cheese, macrame, selling juice and providing a public telephone service through VIVA.

Dominga says that she has been a member of a Pro Mujer community bank for eleven years and was invited to join by a friend. She currently has a business knotting blankets which she has had for five years. She learned this business from her mother.

Dominga will use this loan to increase her capital (buying tassels and fabric with which to make blankets). She will buy her supplies in the 16 de julio neighborhood and, once she has made her products, she will sell them in stores. This work enables her to make the income she needs to support her family. She is married and has three children.

When we asked Dominga what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replied that she likes the health services.

In this group: Dominga, Betzabe Mayra , Rosmery , Susana , Miriam , Margarita, Marga , Verónica , Gregoria
