A loan of $2,575 helped a member to expand the place where she sells her food.

Bethania Group's story

Esther, who is in her mid 70s, is a widow with six children, but only one stays with her; the rest are independent. She has been a food vendor for five years now. She works from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and is able to make a small monthly profit. This will be her seventh loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to buy herself clothes, pay household expenses and increase the food stock, and she has paid back all her loans successfully. She wants a loan to expand the place where she sells her food since it was small. Her dream is to one day be able to build herself a good house. She will share this loan with her loan group, "Bethania," which has a total of 15 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back their loans.

In this group: Esther, Asia, Chizya, Stella*, Jackson, Mariam, Salma, Apulonia, Nancy, Emmy, Rehema, Mwanaisha, Magreth, Immaculatha, Joyce
