A loan of $275 helped to buy supplies for preparing different dishes.

Sonia's story

53-year-old Sonia is a cheerful and very responsible woman. She is a widow and has four children who are grown up and independent. Sonia lives in her own home along with seven other people (children and grandchildren). Her business is selling food. She goes out very early in the morning to the market to buy the supplies that she needs to prepare the delicious dishes that mark her out as a great cook. She sells her food from the sidewalk outside her home. She has been working in this business for just four months and it is doing okay. She has the support of her daughter who is always there to support her with anything she needs.

What Sonia enjoys about her work is that she is always making sales and, for this reason, she considers her work to be profitable. She earns almost half of what she invests. For this reason, she would like to grow in her business as she really enjoys cooking and she would like to eventually have a restaurant in her home.

This will be Sonia's sixth loan from MFP. She is happy with the group in which she works as they are all very responsible and any problems that they have are quickly resolved by everybody. She is also very grateful for the support that she has received from the institution as it is very helpful to her in increasing her working capital. Sonia will use the sum that she has requested to buy ingredients and supplies for making her food. This will enable her to offer a wider variety of dishes.
