Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,125 helped to fund her son's graduation.

Genoveva's story

Genoveva is a member of the Nueva Vida communal bank. She is 50 years old.

Genoveva works as a cook in a café. She invests all the loans that she has taken in the education of her children. She has five children. Thanks to her effort and the assistance of Finca, they were all able to finish their higher education. Her daughter is a teacher, two sons are accountants, and two sons are police officers. Her goal is to be able to open her own café. She is grateful to Finca for the good education that they have given her. Everything she learned she was able to instill in her children. The loan that she is requesting will be used for her son’s parachuting graduation.

Genoveva expresses that Finca is an institution that trusts in entrepreneurial, hardworking women and helps women be able to get out of poverty.
