A loan of $850 helped to buy pagnes (colorful African cloth).

Akouavi's story

Akouavi, age 36, is married to a male nurse and has two children to support. One of them attends school. The oldest is 8, and the youngest is 2. She has been working as a pagnes (colorful African cloth) reseller since 1998. She gets her supplies at the market, and resells as a street peddler. Akouavi is seeking her first loan from Kiva's partner, WAGES, in order to buy pagnes. She wants to reinvest her profits in her business. In the forthcoming years, she would like to bolster her business by selling other items. She says that she intends to use her profits to ensure the well-being of her family.
