A loan of $375 helped to buy three kilos of maca seed.

Ysmael's story

Ismael, 21, is a responsible young man. He lives in the community of Huaytacorral with his sister Eva; together they take care of their parents' house, since their parents are working in another area.

Despite his young age, this young worker has six years of experience growing maca (an Andean root) and potatoes. Since he was a child his parents taught him how to work in the field as well as to fertilize the land, tools that later he would be applying, currently on his four hectares of productive land. "I still don't have land of my own, this belongs to the community, but very soon I will buy some," he affirms.

He sells the harvest every Friday in the market in the community of Acostambo. He also sells dried maca to a maca-processing business that exports the product since it is well received for its nutritional components. Now he hopes to improve the quality of his land to increase the yield of maca and potatoes.

Ismael belongs to the Los Angeles solidarity group and this is his first loan with MFP. He hopes for the support of all of you, since he has many plans for his future. In addition, he promises to be punctual in making his payments.

Upon receiving the support, Ismael will use the requested money to buy three kilos of maca seed, which costs an average of 300 PEN per kilo.
