A loan helped a member to buy construction supplies.

Nhem's Group's story

Nhem, 53, lives together with her two single children in Kompong Chhnang province. She is a farmer and recently owns a small store selling mixed products to the people in and around her village and the travelers who come across her store. She can earn about $1.75 per day through her business. Her oldest child also helps support the family by working as a construction worker in mobile places.

Nhem has applied for a loan from Kiva's lenders for the purchase of construction materials to support her son's business. She hopes that this loan will increase the income for her family.

Nhem is the leader of this group loan with four members: Mr. Va, 44; Mrs. Pech, 34; Mrs. Chea, 23. These three people are in the same business of cultivating rice crops. Because of the coming rainy season, these three people have the same purpose in using Kiva’s funds. They will use this loan to buy mineral fertilizers to spread on their farmlands in order to make their plants grow well.

In this group: Nhem, Va, Pech, Chea
