A loan of $650 helped to buy jewelry.

Afi's story

Afi is a 43-year old woman. Her husband is in the military, and she has two children. Afi has been working as vendor since 2000. She buys and resells jewelry, such as necklaces, earrings, hair elastics, and rings. She sells to all kinds of clients in front of her house, or as a street vendor in Lomé. She buys these goods at the big market of Cotonou in the neighboring Benin. She is aided by one additional person in her business.

Afi has requested her fourth loan from WAGES in order to purchase quality jewelry for her clients. She would lie to use additional profits to grow her business. In the years to come, Afi would like to open her own jewelry store. She says that she plans to use her profits to contribute to the family’s well-being.
