A loan of $2,600 helped a member to purchase pasta, rice, cooking oil, etc.

Khantaty Group's story

The communal bank "Khantaty" will start their first loan cycle with Pro Mujer (Kiva Field Partner) as part of Copacabana Centre. It is formed by six members and it is led by a board of directors which is headed by Remedios. The businesses held by the members of this communal bank are various, and among them are: dairy production, grocery store, vegetable sales, community store, food sales, beer sales.

Remedios indicates that it is the first time she works with Pro Mujer and she joined following an invitation from a promoter. She currently has a food sales business that she has been managing for several years.

The loan that she requests will be used to increase her capital (to purchase pasta, rice, cooking oil etc.). She will make her purchases in the city of La Paz and she will later sell her products from her food stall. This form of work lets her generate a source of income to support her family as much as possible. She lives with her common-law partner and their three children.
