A loan of $600 helped to buy materials for making 'panes con pollo' (paying cash), and to buy some tables and chairs for her business.

Marcos Herminia's story

Marcos is a very hard-working woman of 46. She is single and lives with her parents.

For one year, Marcos has been selling 'panes con pollo' (cooked chicken sandwiches) and soda. She also sells other products but this is her favorite. This is a business that she learned from her mom as she used to work in this business and had many customers. This has been very useful to Marcos.

Marcos looks after her parents and uses the profits she makes to provide them with what they need. She buys the supplies that she uses in some shops which are located a few blocks from her home so that she doesn't have to pay bus fare. She makes her purchases on credit and pays when she finishes selling her products. She is requesting a loan so that she can buy the supplies that she needs in one go and pay cash for them. This will enable her to buy them at a better price and so will be able to help her parents more. In addition, she would also like to buy some tables and chairs so that her customers can eat what she sells on site.

Marcos would like to have a hut in the park in her community and would also like to save her profits. She currently makes her sales outside her house and when it rains she can't go out and sell her products because they get wet. She hangs a large blanket up as a roof but it isn't enough and things always get wet.
