A loan of $750 helped a member to buy meat, corn, rice, and condiments for sauce.

Gbedokpo Group's story

GBEDOKPO Group is made up of three women who are friends. They are seeking their second loan from Kiva's partner, ALIDé, in order to bolster their businesses.

The group's representative, named Marie, is the one raising her hand in the photograph. She's 31 years old and lives in Benin. She's married to a butcher named Paul.

The couple has two school-attending children they have to support. Marie never attended school. In order to provide for herself and her children, she's been preparing and selling food (rice and pasta served with sauces) for two years.

Marie gets her supplies in one of Benin's markets. Eager to satisfy her customers and increase her revenue and income, she's seeking a second loan, together with the other members of the group. The first loan was repaid without problems.
